As a way of boosting bilateral trade and investment, Chinese Ambassador, Yin Chengwu and Liberia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Magdalene Ellen Dagoseh, met reaffirming both countries’ commitment to strengthening economic cooperation. During the meeting, Ambassador Yin highlighted key outcomes of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China; noting that China remains committed to expanding high-standard opening-up during its upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan period.

He emphasized that these policy directions will create greater opportunities for developing nations, including Liberia. “China is actively implementing its zero-tariff policy for African countries, a program designed to ease access to the vast Chinese market,” Yin explained.

According to him, Liberia stands to benefit immensely if its businesses take full advantage of the policy by increasing export-oriented production. He encouraged the Liberian government to motivate local enterprises to explore new economic and trade avenues with China.

This, he noted, will not only strengthen bilateral commerce, but also contribute directly to improving the livelihoods of ordinary Liberians. He stressed that China views Liberia as a trusted partner and remains ready to support its growth aspirations through trade facilitation, market access, and investment cooperation.

Strengthening Liberia’s export capacity, he added, aligns with China’s long-standing goal of fostering shared prosperity with African nations. For her part, Minister Dagoseh expressed appreciation for China’s consistent support to Liberia’s economic and social development over the years.

She praised China for remaining a dependable ally in infrastructure development, capacity building, and trade facilitation. Minister Dagoseh reaffirmed Liberia’s readiness to deepen economic collaboration; stressing that her ministry will work to create the necessary environment for Liberian and Chinese businesses to engage more actively.

She underscored that expanding trade with China is a strategic priority under Liberia’s national development agenda. According to the Minister, Liberia is keen to strengthen its export profile by exploring opportunities within China’s vast consumer market. She said cooperation with China is essential for enhancing value addition, improving industrial standards, and expanding the country’s manufacturing potential.
