China, through its Ambassador to Liberia, Yin Chengwu, on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, handed over 3,600 metric tons of emergency humanitarian food assistance to the Government of Liberia, reinforcing its strategic partnership with the country and fulfilling commitments made at the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
Speaking at the official handover ceremony, China’s Ambassador to Liberia said the food assistance reflects Beijing’s pledge to translate summit commitments into concrete action, stressing that “once we commit, we will honor it.” The shipment, he noted, carries the goodwill of the Chinese people and is intended to help ease Liberia’s food challenges and improve the welfare of vulnerable communities.
Ambassador Yin emphasized that the latest donation builds on China’s long-standing support for Liberia’s food security, recalling that Beijing has provided multiple rounds of food assistance over the years. As China prepares to implement its 15th Five-Year Plan, he said food security remains central to its domestic and international development agenda, with renewed focus on helping developing countries build stable and resilient food systems.
Beyond humanitarian relief, the Chinese envoy described the assistance as a strong symbol of the China–Liberia strategic partnership, highlighting shared responsibility in addressing global challenges such as hunger and climate change. According to him, “Your prosperity contributes to our shared future,” underscoring China’s commitment to mutual growth and common prosperity.
He further assured that China will continue to deepen cooperation with Liberia under the FOCAC framework, align development strategies, and expand collaboration across key sectors, to build a future “free from hunger and full of hope.” The food aid is expected to support government-led distribution efforts aimed at strengthening national food security and protecting vulnerable populations across Liberia.
The event was attended by senior Liberian officials, including Commerce and Industry Minister, Magdalene E. Dagoseh, Minister of State without Portfolio, Hadja Mamaka Bility, Deputy Foreign Minister, Cllr. Jeddi Mowbray Armah, and Deputy Commerce Minister for Administration Tanue Jeke, alongside development partners and diplomats.
