Defeated former President George Manneh Weah has reminded partisans of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) that the party remains the bastion of hope for Liberians.
Speaking over the weekend at the party’s Militant Day program in Congo Town, via telephone, the former Liberian leader emphasized the significance of the CDC as a “Way of life” and a “Bastion of hope” for thousands of Liberians who believe in the party’s grassroots agenda.
Weah acknowledged the challenges faced but expressed confidence in the continued support and determination of CDC members to strive for a better Liberia.
He highlighted that their dedication, even in the absence of party leaders from the country and during inclement weather, demonstrates a strong commitment to the CDC’s mission and vision.
He extended thanks to the Chairman, Secretary General, and the entire Executive Committee of the CDC for their efforts in planning and organizing the Militant Day program.
The event, held on Friday, June 28, 2024, aimed to celebrate the dedication and commitment of the party’s supporters over the years.
In his statement of appreciation and solidarity, Weah expressed gratitude to all CDC members, supporters, and members of opposition political parties who participated in the celebration despite the adverse weather conditions.
He specifically thanked the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Chair of the Legislative Caucus of the CDC, along with many partisans and supporters who gathered in large numbers, showing their loyalty and obligation to the party.
Weah also thanked other political party leaders for their presence at the Militant Day program, recognizing their show of opposition solidarity.
He urged all of those who believe in a united and indivisible Liberia, to continue collaborating in the interest of the people.
Weah reaffirmed his commitment to the CDC and the country announcing that he and other party leaders would soon return to Liberia reinvigorated to continue their fight for a better nation.
The former President called for unity and continued collaboration among all political parties and citizens to achieve the common goal of a prosperous and peaceful Liberia.
