During day one of a two-day Cabinet Focal Persons (CFP) Capacity Building Workshop on Cabinet Documentation & Decision Support, the Director General of the Cabinet, Nathaniel Kwabo, emphasized the critical role CFPs play in ensuring effective operations across all line ministries and agencies. The workshop was held under the theme, “Strengthening Policy Implementation.” Cabinet Focal Persons are civil servants nominated by the heads of their respective entities to act as the primary liaison with the Cabinet Secretariat.
They play a critical role in ensuring that policy submissions, decisions, and follow-up actions are timely, accurate, and aligned with national priorities. The workshop focuses on three key areas to include, Policy Documentation and Quality Assurance – ensuring submissions to Cabinet meet established standards and are aligned with national priorities, Decision Tracking and Implementation – enhancing the ability of MACs to follow through on Cabinet decisions using the institutionalized frameworks and working alongside the Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS) and Inter-Ministerial Coordination – improving collaboration between institutions for coherent policy development and delivery.
Speaking Monday, September 1, 2025, at the opening of two-day training for selected CFPs, Director Kwabo underscored the importance of their involvement in decision-making and implementation processes within their respective institutions. According to him, such engagement is essential to the overall performance and effectiveness of the government. At the same time, he encouraged participants to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the training to better support Cabinet functions within their agencies.
The training, organized by the Ministry of State through the Cabinet Secretariat, aims to enhance coordination and cooperation among government entities.
Through interactive sessions, practical exercises, and knowledge sharing, the training will build the capacity of CFPs to serve as reliable links between their respective institutions and the Office of the Cabinet. Also, the initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen governance, accountability, and results-driven leadership. Participants were drawn from key institutions, including the Central Bank of Liberia, Civil Service Agency, General Services Agency, Governance Commission, Internal Audit Agency, and the Liberia Broadcasting System, among others.
