The Chairperson on Commerce and Trade at the Liberia Business Association (lLIBA), Dominic Nimely has called the attention of President Joseph N. Boakai to include representatives of the business community on his business trips.
Speaking Monday, June 10, 2024 in Monrovia, Nimely said during the President’s first trip at the UN-Africa Business Summit in the United States of America, there was no business person included on the trip.
“In other West African countries, the government sponsor the business people because they are there to sell the country. The business people are the back bone of any country,” Nimely said.
He revealed that whenever a business person or people follow the President on a business trip, it reduces the burden on the government to bring companies.
Nimely stated that ministers and directors that go for those trips with the President do not understand the business language.
Nimely said that only a businessman will be able to convince another businessman, stressing that Senators and Representative will not be able to do what a business person will do.
“Whenever, for example, Ghana send the business community on a business trip, they will come back with not less than fifteen companies,” he noted.
He indicated that when companies are in the country, it reduces pressure on the government by providing jobs for citizens.
