Boakai Conducts First National Security Meeting

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has commissioned and administered the “Oath of Confidentiality” to members of the National Security Council of Liberia at the Executive Mansion.
In his address, on March 21, 2024, the President urged the Security Council members to serve the nation’s interests with unwavering dedication.

President Boakai then chaired the council’s inaugural meeting, at which the security sector officials discussed a range of critical national issues.

Speaking to reporters following the closed-door meeting that lasted for several hours, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Liberia, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, assured the public that the government is committed to finding solutions to the challenges facing the country.

These challenges, he pointed out, include the situation in Kinjor and other concession areas as well as issues affecting citizens at various borders.
Minister Tweh emphasized that the government would build upon its experiences and be better prepared to tackle any future issues.

Tweh praised President Boakai’s vision for the country’s development and urged Liberians to be patient as the government works to address their concerns.

The National Security Council comprises several officials, including the Minister of Justice, Minister of Finance, Minister of National Defense, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), Minister of Internal Affairs, National Security Advisor to the President, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Inspector General of Liberia National Police, Commissioner of the Liberia Immigration Services, Director of the National Fire Service, the Head of the National Security Agency (NSA), the Director of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency, among others.
