The Ministry of Education (MoE) has initiated an investigation into a video circulating on social media that allegedly depicts a teacher physically assaulting students at Berea Christian Academy of Excellence (BCAE), located in the Sophie Community, Congo Town.
If confirmed, the alleged incident would constitute a serious violation of Ministry of Education regulations, including the Ministry’s strict prohibition of corporal punishment in all educational institutions. The Ministry reiterates that the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of all learners remain a non-negotiable priority.
The Ministry has deployed a fact-finding team to engage with the school administration, affected students, parents, and other relevant stakeholders to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Appropriate administrative actions will be taken in line with established policies and procedures upon the conclusion of the investigation, a press release disclosed.
The Ministry of Education reaffirms its zero-tolerance stance on violence against students and calls on all school administrators and educators to uphold professional standards, child protection principles, and the laws governing education in Liberia. According to a press release dated December 13, 2025, appropriate administrative actions will be taken in line with established policies and procedures upon the conclusion of the investigation.
