The Embassy of Liberia in Brussels, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, received Madam Lydia Mutyebele Ngoi for a courtesy visit to Ambassador Levi Demmah. According to the Embassy, Madam Ngoi expressed pleasure at visiting the diplomatic mission of Africa’s first independent republic. She conveyed her interest in working closely with African diplomatic missions in Brussels.
She also shared her desire to visit Liberia to deepen her understanding of the country’s historic struggle for independence and its legacy as the home of Africa’s first democratically elected female president. A release said the Embassy welcomed Madam Ngoi and looks forward to strengthened engagement and collaboration.
Ngoi was elected in June 2024 to the Belgian Chamber of Representatives, representing the Brussels-Capital Region. Her election marked a historic milestone, as she became the first woman of Sub-Saharan African origin to serve in Belgium’s federal parliament. The Embassy of Liberia reaffirms its commitment to fostering constructive dialogue and cooperation with Belgian institutions and representatives in Brussels.
