‘All Set For Salaries Top-up’ …Civil Service Discloses

The Government of Liberia through the Civil Service Agency (CSA) says all modalities and paperwork have been completed in ensuring that the salaries rises of civil servants as captured in the 2025 National Budget takes effect at the end of January.

The initiative is set to top-up the salaries of health workers, teachers, security personnel and those working in the agriculture sector.

Addressing the Ministry of Information regular press briefing Thursday, January 23, 2025, Josiah F. Joekai, Jr., Director-General of the CSA said the government is committed to addressing salaries issues faced by essential public sector employees.

He said the agency has estimated approximately 12,129 teachers, 4,713 health workers, 7,651 security personnel, and 480 agriculture workers that fell the below minimum wage for their he said to rectify the situation of salary disparity, the Civil Service Agency in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance Development Planning is undertaking a salary top up initiative that will help make allocations to bridge the gaps in these sectors and ensure fair compensation.

He said this structural approach will ensure that the most affected employees will receive support to their specific salary needs, saying that the salary top-up program will provide targeted financial support to those identified as earning the below minimum wage.

Joekai said this initiative not only seeks to improve the economic stability for these workers, but to provide job satisfaction to individuals involved.

He said by offering additional compensation, the government intends to foster a more motivated workforce, leading to an improved public sector. “This strategic approach aligns with President Joseph N. Boakai’s vision of promoting headways within Liberia’s Civil Service,” he said.
