The Director General of the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) Julius D. Dennis Jr. has said that investing in modern airport infrastructure is essential for attracting international airlines and enhancing the passenger experience.
Speaking Monday, May 5, 2025, at the beginning of a week-long aviation awareness in Monrovia, Director General Dennis explained that a world-class airport serves as a gateway to a nation, creating a positive and lasting impression for visitors and investors alike.
He said upgrading the air navigation services is equally crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient air traffic management.
The Director General of LCAA noted that upgrading air navigation services requires implementing of advanced radar systems, communication networks, and air traffic control technologies.
“These improvements not only enhance safety but also significantly increase the capacity of Liberian airspace to accommodate future growth in air traffic. Increased and sustained funding for the aviation sector is paramount in maintaining Liberia’s reputation as a safe and reliable aviation jurisdiction,” he said.
Dennis said that by investing in regulatory compliance and capacity building, Liberia can ensure that its aviation sector adheres to the highest international standards.
“This commitment to excellence will not only enhance safety but will also unlock opportunities for new international routes and partnerships, further boosting the nation’s economic potential. Furthermore, by strategically investing in its aviation sector, Liberia has the opportunity to regain its position as a leader in West African air transport,” said.
According to him, this strategic repositioning can transform the country into a crucial hub for both regional and international flights, driving economic growth and enhancing Liberia’s influence on the continent. As Liberia expands its aviation sector, he said it is imperative to prioritize environmental sustainability.
Dennis explained that by investing in green technologies and adopting sustainable practices, the LCAA can position Liberia as a leader in environmentally responsible aviation, adding that the approach will benefit the environment, attract eco-conscious travelers, and enhance Liberia’s global reputation.
“By providing increased support to the LCAA, the Liberia Airport Authority, and the Accident Investigation Bureau, we can unlock significant economic growth, enhance national security, and position Liberia as a leading force in regional air transport,” he noted.
For her part, Liberia’s Minister of State Without Portfolio, Mamaka Bility, said that aviation is much more than an industry; it is the bloodstream of the country’s development that leads people to each other and the global community.
“As we speak of a prosperous Liberia, this nation must succeed in that proclamation, because a connected Liberia is a great Liberia,” she stated.
Minister Bility narrated that aviation strengthens the economy by welcoming businesses to the shore, creating fresh opportunities for business, investment, and cultural exchange.
She said it gives Liberian companies access to new markets beyond boundaries and exposes entrepreneurs and traders to extend their reach. According to her, reliable aviation also builds confidence amongst investors when making decisions on where to invest.
