Acting Immigration Boss Praised for Increasing Workers’ Salaries

Officers of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) have expressed their satisfaction with the leadership of the LIS Acting Commissioner General and his team for their exemplary leadership displayed so far.

According to information gathered through a release sent to this paper on Thursday, February 27, 2025, through the intensive lobbying efforts of Acting Commissioner General Elijah Rufus and his team, the Government of Liberia has approved salary increments for LIS officers for the 2025 budget year. This increment ranges from middle to top-level officers.

Since January, the majority of LIS officers have been going home with smiles on their faces due to the raise provided by the government.

For many years, LIS officers endured low salaries, which negatively impacted their motivation and service to the government

With the arrival of the Acting Commissioner General’s leadership, the morale of the LIS officers has significantly improved. Many have expressed their excitement about the leadership style of Acting Commissioner General Rufus. In just a short period, his leadership has addressed our key concerns. We wish him well,” the release quoted an officer as saying.
