The Ministry of Youth and Sports has cancelled all training material costs and uniform fees for students enrolled at one of Liberia’s premier technical schools, the Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC).

Speaking Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the Ministry of Information briefing, Deputy Minister for Press & Public Affairs Daniel O. Sando said this decision directly addresses the most cited obstacle to enrollment and signals the Government’s recognition that access to skills training must be treated as a public investment, not a private burden.

According to him, students who have already paid the US$25 uniform fee will not lose those funds, adding that the Ministry has directed that all such payments be credited toward graduation fees, ensuring that no student who made a financial commitment to their training is disadvantaged by the reform.

Furthermore, young people who previously sat and passed the MVTC entrance examination but were unable to enroll due to limited capacity or financial constraints are strongly encouraged to register immediately.

He said the Ministry has confirmed that adequate arrangements are in place to facilitate a smooth and inclusive enrollment process.

Furthermore, the Ministry will introduce dedicated transportation arrangements, including the procurement of buses, to ensure that distance and mobility costs no longer prevent students from attending training.

Sando disclosed that additional instructors and qualified technical personnel will be recruited to strengthen workshop capacity, improve instructor-to-student ratios, and elevate the quality of practical training delivered at the center. “MVTC will be authorized to engage in production and service activities tied to its existing workshops”, he added.
