Defense Ministry Warns Against Impersonation

Minister-Geraldine-George

The Ministry of National Defense says it notes with grave concern repeated incidents involving individuals falsely impersonating members of the Armed Forces of Liberia to deceive, intimidate, or defraud civilians. Reports indicate that impostors have been posing as soldiers—both in person and through phone calls, messaging citizens, and social media platforms to solicit money, request personal information, gain unauthorized access to restricted areas, or conduct other fraudulent activities.

According to a release, the Ministry maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward impersonation and fraud conducted under the guise of military authority, as doing so undermines public trust in the Armed Forces. “Let it be made clear that these actions are criminal offenses punishable by law; offenders will be apprehended and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the laws of Liberia,” the release stressed.

The Ministry said military personnel will never request money, financial transfers, personal banking information, or sensitive personal data from anyone. The Armed Forces of Liberia remains committed to protecting the nation and upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
