The National Transit Authority (NTA) has announced the arrival of the second batch of vehicles under a contractual agreement with ABK Motors Incorporated.  In a press statement issued on Monday, January 19, 2026, NTA said the addition consists of 20 fully air-conditioned, 18-seater mini-buses, marking a significant step in the expansion of the country’s mass transit network.

NTA said mini-buses are part of a broader procurement plan that will bring 60 new vehicles to the country, with the first batch of 35, 62-seater mass transit buses already operational.  “The arrival of these 20 mini-buses will specifically improve transportation access for citizens in remote communities, particularly those located along feeder roads,” NTA noted.

According to NTA, the mini-buses are designed to provide a more reliable and efficient means of transport in these underserved areas, while also offering an alternative to the current charter services provided by NTA. The NTA noted that in addition to these 55 new passenger buses, it is also anticipating the delivery of five cargo trucks intended to enhance the transportation of goods and materials across Liberia, further supporting the country’s logistical needs.

He said the acquisition of these 60 vehicles, which includes 35 mass transit buses, 20 mini-buses, and 5 cargo trucks, underscores the Government of Liberia’s commitment to improving the transportation infrastructure for both citizens and foreign nationals. The Authority pledged consistent dedication to providing affordable, reliable, and efficient transportation services to meet the growing needs of Liberia.
