The Political Leader of the Liberia National Union (LINU), Dr. Clarence Moniba, is criticizing the Government of Liberia under the stewardship of the Unity Party for failing to make significant improvements in the livelihoods of ordinary citizens. Speaking on the Punch FM Breakfast Show on Thursday, January 15, 2026, Moniba stated that despite repeated promises of reform, good governance, and national renewal, the everyday realities remain worrisome.
“Despite repeated assurances of reform, the plight of the average citizen remains dire,” Moniba said, highlighting persistent economic hardships, high costs of living, unemployment, weak public services, and limited opportunities for most Liberians. “The faces may have changed, but the hardship is the same.” He also questioned the government’s claims of development progress, asserting that many of the projects currently being promoted as achievements were actually initiated years ago under the previous Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) administration.
“There is no need to fight over credit for work that was started long before this administration,” Moniba said. “It makes no sense for politicians to seek praise while the people continue to suffer without seeing real improvement.” Moniba emphasized the need for honesty, transparency, and accountability in governance. He called on government officials to prioritize tangible results that directly address the needs of Liberians rather than engaging in political posturing or claiming credit for projects launched by their predecessors.
