The National Bureau of Concessions (NBC) on Friday, November 28, 2025, witnessed a transfer of leadership as Hanson Kiazolu formally took office as Director General, signaling a new era of strengthened oversight and renewed commitment to accountable concession governance. The transition ceremony, held at the NBC headquarters in Congo Town, marked the official handover from outgoing Director General J.S.B. Theodore Momo, who reflected on his tenure with gratitude and pride.
He highlighted key achievements, including enhanced monitoring mechanisms and improved cooperation between concessionaires and the Government of Liberia. Momo assured his successor of his unwavering support and urged staff and partners to extend the same spirit of collaboration that defined his administration.
In his address, Kiazolu expressed appreciation to President Joseph N. Boakai and the Liberian government for entrusting him with what he described as a “national responsibility.” He pledged to consolidate the gains made while rolling out new strategies that emphasize transparency, institutional coordination, and community-centered development.
“My leadership will prioritize stronger oversight, efficiency, and inclusive engagement. We must ensure that concession agreements not only attract investment but also translate into tangible benefits for the Liberian people,” Kiazolu stated. The ceremony drew representatives from key concession companies, including the Chief Executive Officer of Western Cluster, the Managing Director of APM Terminals, and the Manager of Mano Plantation.
Their presence underscored the private sector’s commitment to fostering continued cooperation with the NBC. Many expressed optimism that Kiazolu’s appointment would deepen trust and reinforce accountability within the concession landscape. Moreover, the event concluded with the symbolic handover of documents and instruments of authority, followed by a guided tour of the facility and interactive discussions between the new Director General, staff, and concession stakeholders.
