The Government of Liberia has announced the signing of contractual agreements for the installation of solar streetlights across Monrovia.  Speaking Thursday August 7, 2025, at the Ministry of information regular press briefing, Daniel O. Sando, the Deputy Minister for Press and Public Affairs, disclosed that the Ministry of Public Works, with funding from the World Bank through the Liberia Urban Resilience Project (LURP), has entered into Contractual Agreements with two local companies – Quality Group of Construction Company and RESCO Incorporated, for the installation of solar streetlights along several communities in Monrovia and its environs.

He said the Agreements, amongst many things, entail the supply and installation of All-in-One Integrated Solar Streetlights with galvanized steel poles.

He said the Public Works Minister, Roland Layfette Giddings, disclosed that the move is aimed at providing road safety, and that the installation of the All-in-One Integrated Solar Lights will help reduce the load on the LEC National Power Grid.

Targeted communities under the Agreements include: Neezoe to Pipeline – 2.23 km, Wood Camp to Parker Paint – 1.8km, Zayzay Community to Duport Road – 3.8km, Voker Mission – 1.24km, Weaver Street – 0.83kmb, Clara Town – 1.6km and among others.
