As part of activities marking Liberia’s 178th Independence Day celebration, President Joseph N. Boakai, on Friday, July 18, 2025, attended a special Thanksgiving and Intercessory Prayer Service held at the Unity Foundation Mosque in the Fish Market Community, Sinkor.
The service brought together Islamic leaders, government officials, and community members to pray for continued peace, national unity, and prosperity. The Unity Foundation Mosque, known for its community engagement and promotion of religious harmony, was filled with worshippers and dignitaries who warmly welcomed the President. Speaking during the service, President Boakai expressed appreciation to the Muslim community for their prayers and unwavering support for national development.
The Liberian leader called on all Liberians, regardless of religious background, to continue to work together in building a peaceful and inclusive nation, stating that the 178th Independence Day is not only a time of celebration but also a moment for reflection. “I am deeply honored to be here today among our Muslim brothers and sisters, praying for the strength, peace, and future of our beloved Liberia,” he added.
Several Islamic leaders, including the Imam of the Unity Foundation Mosque, offered prayers for wisdom and guidance for the country’s leadership, healing for the nation, and success in the government’s efforts to improve the lives of citizens. The event is one of several interfaith activities taking place ahead of the July 26 Independence Day. President Boakai’s participation in the prayer service highlights the administration’s commitment to religious tolerance, unity, and engagement with all sectors of society.
