The Minister of Justice/Attorney General of Liberia, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, on Friday, July 4, paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the War and Economic Crimes Court (OWECC-L) at Mamba Point, where he held a high-level discussion with Cllr. Jallah Barbu, head of the office.
During Friday’s visit, Cllr. Tweh was taken on a guided tour of the facilities and received a comprehensive briefing on OWECC-L’s activities from Executive Director, Dr. Cllr. Jallah A. Barbu. The meeting focused on assessing the current progress of the Court’s preparatory work, ongoing coordination efforts, and key challenges hindering operational effectiveness.
Both legal professionals exchanged insights on the importance of transparency, justice, and institutional independence in advancing Liberia’s accountability mechanisms. Minister Tweh commended the Office’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and reiterated the government’s support for strengthening the judicial process.
Cllr. Jallah A. Barbu expressed appreciation for the visit and emphasized the need for sustained collaboration and resources to meet the Office’s mandate. The visit marks a significant step in fostering inter-agency cooperation toward the successful establishment and functioning of the War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia.
