Three Top Government Officials Attend Regional Ministerial Meeting

The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Liberia, ๐‚๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ซ. ๐. ๐Ž๐ฌ๐ฐ๐š๐ฅ๐ ๐“๐ฐ๐ž๐ก, along with Finance and Development Planning Minister ๐‡๐จ๐ง. ๐€๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐Š๐ฉ๐ž๐ก๐ž ๐๐ ๐š๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐š๐ง and National Security Advisor to the President, ๐€๐ญ๐ญ๐ฒ. ๐’๐š๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ž๐ฅ ๐Š๐จ๐Ÿ๐ข ๐–๐จ๐จ๐๐ฌ ๐ˆ๐ˆ, are currently in Dakar, Senegal, attending the 30th ECOWAS GIABA Ministerial Committee Meeting.

๐†๐ˆ๐€๐๐€, which stands for the Inter-governmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa, is the regional body dedicated to combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing.

Its primary objective is to enhance and promote collaboration among member states in fighting these forms of financial crimes.

Upon arrival, the three senior officials were warmly received by the Liberian Ambassador to the Republic of Senegal, ๐€๐ฆ๐›. ๐€๐ฅ๐ข ๐’๐ฒ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐š who welcomed them and extended well wishes for a successful meeting as they engage with their counterparts from other countries in West Africa.

This gathering is particularly crucial as it aims to strengthen the collaborative efforts in regulatory frameworks and strategies to address financial crimes across the region.

In addition to discussions on prevalent issues of money laundering and financing of terrorism, the Ministerial Meeting will also focus on capacity building, technical assistance for member states, and the implementation of international standards in financial regulation.
