The Liberty Party (LP) is calling for respect for the rule of law and a calm political resolution to the leadership impasse in the House of Representatives.  In a press release issued on Monday, April 28, 2025, the Political Leader of the Liberty Party, Senate Pro Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, expressed concern about the ongoing leadership crisis that has persisted for six months. She stated that this situation is causing significant distractions in national governance, particularly as the Government of Liberia, under President Joseph N. Boakai’s administration, strives to provide essential social services and restore the country’s damaged image.

Pro Tempore Lawrence emphasized that the Constitution establishes three separate but coordinated branches of government. She highlighted that paralysis in one branch, such as the current situation in the House of Representatives, threatens to undermine the principle of coordination outlined in the Constitution and hinders national development.

Lawrence expressed appreciation for the President’s acknowledgment of the Supreme Court’s decision in the ongoing impasse and praised the Majority Bloc for filing a motion for re-argument before the Supreme Court. She stated, “These actions reflect a commitment to the rule of law, which is essential for our democracy to thrive. Given these actions that align with respecting the rule of law and democratic principles, we urge all stakeholders in our national governance process to remain calm and allow the court to reach a logical and judicial conclusion.”

However, the LP Political Leader urged both sides involved in the conflict within the House of Representatives to prioritize the interests of the Liberian people and consider mediation as a viable solution to the ongoing issue.

She firmly denounced any attempts to exploit the unfortunate impasse for political gain, stating, “We vehemently condemn, in no uncertain terms, efforts to inflame and take advantage of this situation.”
