As part of its responsibility to ensure that all employees of the Ministry of Mines and Energy discharge their duties in a policy-guided manner, the Ministry has opened an investigation into complaints surrounding the services of three of its Mining Agents.

Through the Bureau of Mines, the Ministry has with immediate effect, recalled Mining Agent Samuel Fahn from Henry Town in Gbarpolu County, to be investigated for being associated with allegations of wrongdoing in the discharge of his duty as Mining Agent. While Fahn undergoes investigation, Paul Mulbah has been appointed as Acting Mining Agent to administer the affairs of the Ministry in Henry Town.

Similar action has been taken by the Ministry of Mines and Energy in Fuamah-1 & 2, and Gbarma Mining districts in Bong and Gbarpolu Counties respectively.  Mining Agent Donald C. Wesseh, has been recalled from Fuamah 1 & 2, replaced with acting Mining Agent Charles Kortail, while Solomon G. Jacobs, has been recalled from Gbarnma and replaced with Amos Weah Toe who now serves as acting Mining Agent in that area.

According to the Bureau of Mines, the both recalled Mining Agents will face investigation for alleged wrongdoing while administering the affairs of the Mines and Energy Ministry in Fuamah 1 & 2.

The Ministry calls on all Mining Agents and Inspectors to see these actions as a deterrent against acts incompatible with their duties and responsibilities in their respective assignment areas. At all times, the Ministry expects that Mining Agents and Inspectors will exhibit the highest standards of professionalism and avoid engaging in unlawful activities.

In another development, the Bureau of Mines further clarifies a recent media report alleging that the death in Markweh Clan, Todde District, of a man said to be an illicit miner, has nothing to do with any employee of the Ministry, although tragic.
