The Government of Liberia has placed a restriction on procuring state vehicles with electronic nozzles in order to enhance cost effectiveness and operational efficiency.

Speaking Thursday, February 20, 2025, the Director General of the General Services Agency (GSA) Galakpai W. Kortima said this regulation establishes clear guidelines for the Government of Liberia (GOL’s) vehicle procurement.

He said effective immediately, all electronically controlled diesel engine vehicles are considered unsuitable for GOL’s use due to their history of poor performance.

He said the GSA will prevent procurement-related issues and ensure compliance with GOL standards, and procuring entities must consult it for technical evaluations before acquiring fleet assets.

He said this regulation is the official framework for procuring vehicles that align with GOL’s operational needs. “No GOL vehicle shall be permitted to travel beyond the national borders without prior written authorization from the Director General of the General Services Agency (GSA),” he said, adding that said authorization shall only be granted for official government functions deemed necessary and appropriate.

The regulation aligns with the Code of Conduct for Public Officials, the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) Act, the Executive Law, and the GSA Act.

Director General Kortima mandated relevant government functionaries, including security entities, to enforce this regulation in coordination with the GSA to ensure strict compliance.

Meanwhile, he said any unauthorized cross-border movement of GOL vehicles shall be considered a violation of government asset management policies and subject to administrative action.
