The Senior Management Team of the Ministry of Education has successfully convened a pivotal two-day retreat in Smell-No-Taste, Margibi County. According to a January 25, 2025 release, this retreat is a key initiative aimed at advancing the Ministry’s efforts to implement its strategic priorities in alignment with the Government of Liberia’s national development framework known as the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development. Organized with precision, the retreat serves as a platform to strengthen the Ministry’s execution of critical educational initiatives.

Throughout the event, representatives from various Bureaus and strategic departments within the Ministry presented comprehensive analyses of their respective plans and programs.  These presentations facilitated rich, in-depth discussions aimed at ensuring the successful and timely delivery of the Ministry’s most essential initiatives.

The retreat’s sessions were led by Mr. David Woods Baysah of ADARA Research and Management Consultancy who guided participants through a series of critical topics designed to improve and optimize Ministry operations. His presentations covered key areas including:

A detailed overview of Education Sector Management, its mandate, and strategies for building momentum in the sector. The shift from disorder to strategic orderliness, with a focus on effective planning, management theories, and best practices.

Mr. Baysah underscored the necessity of fostering high-performance team coordination, collaboration, effectiveness, and cross-departmental reporting to create an environment conducive to success.

Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, Minister of Education, the retreat sought to establish a clear and structured timeframe for the implementation of these initiatives.

In addition, a robust monitoring and evaluation framework was developed to ensure that all initiatives are well-coordinated and achieve measurable outcomes in line with the goals set forth in the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

This retreat was made possible through the generous funding support of the World Bank and the Government of Liberia, both of which are committed to the full realization of the Ministry’s strategic priorities.
