The Chief of Staff (COS) to Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Prince M. Gbieu, has urged the graduating students of Sanniquellie Central High School in Nimba County to avoid irresponsible behaviors that could jeopardize their futures as graduates of that esteemed institution.

Gbieu made these remarks on Saturday, December 14, 2024, while serving as the keynote speaker at the school’s graduation ceremony.

He said the graduating class is part of a new generation destined to push boundaries, redefine standards, and elevate the development of Liberia.

He encouraged them to refrain from irresponsible actions, stating, “Today marks the beginning of another journey that will demand even more from you. Stay focused, dedicated, and unwavering in your commitment to moral integrity.”

The VP COS inspired the graduates to believe in themselves and their capacity to effect positive change through integrity and accountability in all their endeavors.

“Life after graduation can be daunting, especially for those without strong family support. This joyous occasion should not mark the end of your ambitions. Let your purpose drive you, rather than your circumstances. Many have graduated before you but ended their academic pursuits immediately after the commencement ceremony. Unfortunately, the struggle for survival often overshadows the need for innovation and creativity in our society,” Mr. Gbieu said.

He highlighted the influence of the motorcycling industry on the number of males pursuing higher education after high school and the number of females abandoning their college aspirations due to increased domestic responsibilities.

On behalf of Vice President Hon. Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Mr. Gbieu awarded ten scholarships to the top students based on their grade points to study at any university in the country, along with thirty scholarships for students willing to attend Nimba County University.
