As Nigeria observes its 64th Independence Day today, October 1, 2024, Its Embassy near Monrovia has reaffirmed commitment to the development of Nigerian-Liberia relations with emphasis on people-to-people interactions for the mutual benefits of the two nations.

Charge D’ Affairs, H.E. Manir Ibrahim, said the creativity, ingenuity and resourcefulness of Nigerians have been acknowledged both regionally and globally. Mr. Ibrahim’s statements were contained in his 64th Independence Day message delivered at the Nigerian Embassy near Congo outside Monrovia during the weekend.

“We must continue working not to only sustain the Nigerian doggedness, but also take the Nigeria-Liberia relations to greater heights,” he said. “Together, we can change our condition for the better and pursue our activities within the confines of the laws of our host country.”

Charge D’Affairs Ibrahim reassured all Nigerians that their country’s embassy near Monrovia under his watch, will continue to support their legal enterprises and work with the Liberian Government to ensure that the conducive environment is provided for their businesses to flourish in order to continue to contribute positively towards the development of the country.

“It is important to take advantage of loans being offered by Nigerian financial institutions in Liberia to strengthen businesses to provide sustainable means of livelihood for as many Nigerians and Liberians as well, so as to create more employment opportunities in order to improve the living condition of the generality in the society.”

He urged Nigerians to uphold ‘our age-long high ethical and moral values in order to promote the image of our country, Nigeria, in the comity of nations.’

The Nigerian Charge D’ Affairs congratulated President Joseph Boakai for his development stride and commitments to improve the Liberian economy and provide lifesaving projects for Liberians through rigorous implementation of the ARREST Agenda.

“In the light of our sustained cordial bilateral relations, I wish President Boakai God’s protection, good health and grace to continue with the good work he has started to the final stage,” he said.

The Nigerian Charge D’ Affairs thanked the Liberian Government and people for being a good host to Nigerians and other foreigners, and prayed that combined efforts will translate to more enduring democracy, economic prosperity, peace, security, and good neighborliness in Liberia.
