Renowned Liberian Human Rights lawyer, Cllr. Tiawan Saye Gongloe, has identified with the Christian Association of the Blind in lower Margibi County as part of his 68th birth anniversary.

The Liberian People’s Party Political Leader was escorted by his Party Chairman as well as sympathizers, partisans of the LPP and host of family members.  During the celebration on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, Cllr. Gongloe donated four bags of 25kg rice and presented a statement of encouragement with a focused topic: “Disability is not inability’’.

Cllr. Gongloe, in deep appreciation, extolled God Almighty for what he terms as unconditional blessing and favor upon his life for seeing his 68th birthday.

He said God has blessed him richly; therefore, it was only necessary to celebrate and share the blessing with the visually impaired.  Gongloe told the gathering that disability is not inability; hence, they should see themselves as people of substance and ability that can contribute to Liberia in different capacities.

“I have come to celebrate with you today with this little that God has blessed me with on this my 68th birthday. You are very special and unique in your own ways. One thing that I want you to remember today is that, disability does not mean inability therefore, you have the capacity to contribute to this country to make it a great place,’’ he said.

Gongloe vowed to ensure that the disabled community is empowered with capacity building and financial resources to enable them achieve their dreams in order to contribute to Liberia in another way.

Receiving the items, a member of the Association expressed appreciation and gratitude to Cllr. Gongloe for remembering them during his birthday with food gift, while terming it as a surprising gesture.

“What you have given us here is really enough. This may look small to you, but to us it’s many because it will address a serious challenge-hunger. We want to assure you that we will continue to pray to God to give you abundance in life, with grace in age, so that you can continue the good work for this country and your people,’’ she said.
