The first batch of the controversial yellow machines have been removed from the Freeport of Monrovia and taken to the EBK Military Barracks on the Robertsfield Highway awaiting the arrival of the remaining consignment.

Over the weekend, the government paraded with the first batch of 285 earth-moving machines and trucks in what pro-government political pundits termed as significant step to improving the country’s road network including farm to market roads across Liberia.

In May 2024, during a three-day retreat led by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Minister Mamaka Bility disclosed the acquisition of 285 earthmoving machines by the Liberian Government sparking controversy and skepticisms as why such announcement not made by President Joseph Boakai or officials of the Public Works Ministry.

Others, particularly the opposition CDC termed the news of the coming of the yellow machines as mere bluff and another propaganda of falsehood.

However, receiving the yellow machines Saturday, July 6, Minister Bility, on behalf of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, stated that the first batch of the machines at the Freeport of Monrovia was a demonstration of the Unity Party’s resolved to make road inaccessibility a history.

The new equipment with inscription, “Made in China,” will be stored at the EBK Barrack in Monrovia until the rest of the shipment arrives

“Thank you, our talk-and-do President. We trust you, and you’re not making us ashamed. We believe in you,” cross-section of onlookers sang.

Minister Bility further emphasized that machines are crucial for Liberia’s road construction efforts, especially helping to build and maintain essential infrastructure, including the creation of additional jobs for other young Liberians.
