The Rotary Club of Monrovia has inducted a new leadership to lead its mission and raise the profile of the organization in Liberia by ensuring that their impactful works are recognized and celebrated.
The program held over the weekend in Monrovia brought together dignitaries from across different professional disciplines.
Those inducted are Ama T. W. Harris, President, Robert Smallwood, Vice President, Loris Shannon, Secretary, Tanu Harris, Treasurer, and Amanda Hill, Sergeant-at-Arm.
Giving her inaugural statement, President Elect Harris said service above self is the cornerstone of Rotary and the club will this year emphasize that service requires collective sacrifice.
She said together, they can achieve more than they ever could individually, knowing that their and unity and commitment to making a difference through combined efforts will create a lasting impact.
Miss. Harris said to realize their goals, her leadership has outlined several key initiatives including partnership with corporations, grant applications and streamlining aggressive fundraising.
She said their focus will remain steadfast on the key areas of Rotary: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education and growing local economies.
For his part, outgoing President William R. Dennis said it has been a year of incredible growth, impactful projects and unwavering dedication from everyone.
He said together they have truly made a difference in their community and beyond, and it’s now time to pass the torch to a new leadership who will guide the club in the upcoming Rotary year of 2024/25.
“Ama, as you take on this important role, I urge you to embrace the spirit of Rotary and its values of service, integrity, and fellowship. Lead with compassion; inspire with your actions, and always remember that our strength lies in our unity and collective efforts,” he said.
He encourages the incoming Board of Directors and all members of the club to offer their full support and cooperation to the club and the new leadership team.
