The Superintendent of River Gee County, Mike Swengbe has termed as false, misleading and diabolical accusations against him that he siphoned funds during the National County Sports Meet.
Recently, River Gee County Senators Jonathan Boye Charles Sogbie, Senator Francis Dopoh, and Superintendent Mike Swengbe found themselves in financial controversy weeks after the 2024 County Meet.
Superintendent Swengbe and others were accused of siphoning funds entrusted to them during the competition. They have also been accused of politicizing the victory celebration, which was planned to be held in the county last week.
The alleged action of the Superintendent forced some players and citizens from other districts in the county to boycott the program
However in an interview with Journalists in Monrovia recently, Superintendent Swengbe described the allegations as a calculated plan intended to damage their hard-earned characters.
According to him, at no point in time did he and senators Sogbie and Dopoe squandered funds entrusted to their care for the County team.
The River Gee County Sports Staring committee Chairperson said those who are breastfeeding such allegations are those he claimed with political interest.
“We couldn’t provide financial report to the public or the county without the conclusion of the project or activities that commemorates the victory.
We have series of activities which includes celebration in Monrovia and the touring of the South East. We are done with that and so, we will provide the report. We believe in transparency and accountability therefore, there is nothing to hide,” Swengbe stated.
He clarified that every cent that was provided to the steering committee by Liberians in the diaspora and citizens was properly spent on the team, something he believes brought the victory.
