The Speaker of the Honorable House of Representatives of the Republic of Liberia, Richard Nagbe Koon, has extended warm congratulations to Hon. Dr. Dansa Kourouma following his overwhelming election as President of the National Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of Guinea.

According to a release issued on Monday, July 20, 2026, Speaker Koon described Dr. Kourouma’s election as a well-deserved recognition of his distinguished leadership, democratic credentials, and unwavering commitment to parliamentary governance and regional cooperation.

Reflecting on the growing ties among the legislatures of the Mano River Union (MRU), Speaker Koon recalled that Dr. Kourouma was among the distinguished parliamentary leaders who participated in the official launch of the Mano River Union Parliamentary Body in Monrovia. The historic event also brought together the Speaker of the Parliament of Sierra Leone and the former Speaker of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire, reaffirming a shared commitment to strengthening legislative collaboration across the sub-region.

The release noted that as a strong advocate and visionary leader for regional parliamentary integration, Speaker Koon expressed confidence that Dr. Kourouma’s elevation to the presidency of Guinea’s National Assembly will further deepen cooperation among the MRU member states.

“The election of Hon. Dr. Dansa Kourouma is not only a victory for the Parliament of Guinea but also a significant milestone for regional parliamentary diplomacy. He noted that the continued collaboration among the legislatures of Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Côte d’Ivoire remains vital to addressing common challenges and advancing the aspirations of the people of the sub-region.

Speaker Koon wished Dr. Kourouma a successful and impactful tenure as President of Guinea’s National Assembly and reaffirmed the commitment of the Liberian House of Representatives to working closely with him in advancing the objectives of the Mano River Union Parliamentary Body and fostering stronger bilateral and regional parliamentary relations.
