The United States Government, through the U.S. Department of War and the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia, has concluded an intensive four-week training program that certified 27 new Drill Sergeants for the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL). ‎The training was conducted at Camp Sande Ware in Careysburg and formed part of continued cooperation aimed at strengthening the capacity and professionalism of Liberia’s military.

‎The exercise was implemented with support from the U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Academy (USADSA), the Michigan National Guard State Partnership Program (SPP), and the Southern European Task Force–Africa (SETAF-AF).

‎Participants underwent extensive instruction in key military disciplines, including Land Navigation, Rifle Marksmanship and Weapon Handling, Physical Readiness Training (PRT), Ruck Marching, Drill and Ceremony, Methods of Instruction, Army Ethics, the Army Profession Course, and Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills.

‎According to organizers, the training was designed to equip the newly certified Drill Sergeants with the technical and leadership skills necessary to train and develop future AFL recruits to professional standards. ‎Officials noted that the program reflects broader efforts to strengthen Liberia’s military institutions and improve the quality of recruit training within the Armed Forces.

‎The U.S. Government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces of Liberia in building internal capacity and ensuring the military can independently conduct recruitment and initial entry training programs.
