The Ministry of Mines and Energy has launched an investigation into a reported 32-carat diamond allegedly linked to Kehweh Camp in the Weasua Mining District, Gbarma District, Gbarpolu County.
According to reports, the diamond reportedly disappeared from Kehweh Camp, later resurfaced in Weasua Town, and was subsequently transported to Monrovia. Sources say individuals connected to the matter appeared before mining authorities at the Ministry of Mines and Energy on Monday as part of the ongoing investigation. Weasua Mining Chairman Kadara Kaba confirmed the investigation but declined to provide details, saying updates would be made available after the process concludes.
The development has once again drawn attention to Weasua’s long-standing reputation as a diamond-producing area, even as residents continue to grapple with poor roads and limited access to basic infrastructure.
