A three-member delegation from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), based in Abuja, Nigeria, on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, concluded an assessment visit to the National Elections Commission of Liberia (NEC-Liberia), aimed at inspecting equipment and reviewing support provided to the Commission during the 2023 General Elections.

The delegation, accompanied by NEC Monitoring and Evaluation Section Director, Michael A. Clarke, was received on behalf of the NEC Chairperson by the Executive Director, Mr. Anthony K. Sengbe. In 2023, ECOWAS, through its Electoral Support Project for Liberia, procured several key assets for the Commission, including one Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep, one Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup, and two Toyota Hilux Pickups.

Additional support included thirty-one laptops, twenty printers, official results portal penetration testing, and deployment of an M&E Monitor and ICT consultant to the Commission, among other interventions. Most of the laptops and vehicles have been assigned to Elections Magistrates across the counties, while a few remain at the NEC Headquarters in Monrovia.

The ECOWAS delegation comprised, of Patrick Lamboi, Strategic Planning for M&E, Gbogboto Musa, Director for Strategic Planning, Dr. Malick Babah, Programme Officer for Strategic Development; and Irene B. Wallace, Office Manager for the ECOWAS Mission in Liberia, who also accompanied the delegation to the NEC Headquarters. Meanwhile, the NEC through its Executive Director expressed appreciation to ECOWAS for its continued and immense support to the Commission over the years.
