Liberia’s Ambassador to France, His Excellency Teeko Tozay Yorlay, Sr., received Mr. Nicolas Sureau, Public Affairs Director of Eiffage en Afrique, at the Embassy of the Republic of Liberia near Paris, France. The meeting focused on exploring potential investment opportunities in Liberia, particularly in road infrastructure development, energy production, and water and sanitation.
Eiffage is a leading European construction and concessions group operating in more than 50 countries worldwide. Through its African subsidiary, Eiffage en Afrique, the company is actively engaged in major infrastructure projects across the continent.
During the discussions, Ambassador Yorlay highlighted the Liberian Government’s ongoing efforts to construct, rehabilitate, and expand the country’s road network, including key national highways. He underscored the absence of a national tolling system and emphasized its potential as a sustainable mechanism for revenue generation and long-term road maintenance. The Ambassador noted that, through the Ministry of Public Works, the Government of Liberia is advancing plans to modernize major transport corridors and is seeking experienced partners such as Eiffage to support these critical initiatives.
On energy, Ambassador Yorlay emphasized the urgent need to expand electricity generation and distribution nationwide, identifying the sector as a priority for investment. He encouraged the establishment of partnerships between Eiffage and relevant Liberian institutions to help address the country’s energy challenges.
Addressing water and sanitation, the Ambassador reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to improving access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation services. He stressed that these remain key national priorities and highlighted the need for strategic partnerships to strengthen infrastructure across the country.
Mr. Sureau expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and commended the constructive and open nature of the discussions. He conveyed a strong interest in the opportunities presented and reaffirmed Eiffage en Afrique’s commitment to continuing engagement with a view to developing concrete and mutually beneficial projects.
