President Joseph N. Boakai and some government officials on Friday, May 3, 2024 departed Liberia to attend the African Business Summit, which is expected to take place in Dallas, Texas, the United States of America,

The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) will host the 16th U.S.-Africa Business Summit on May 6-9, 2024 in Dallas, Texas under the theme “Partnering for Sustainable Success”

The Summit will bring together more than 1,500 U.S. and African public and private sector executives including Heads of State, international investors, U.S. and African government officials, and multilateral stakeholders.

The objective of the gathering is to enable leaders to connect with government and private sector decision makers over the course of four days to drive U.S.-Africa sustainable business partnerships.

Eight African heads of state and government will also participate in the Business Summit. The heads of state include: Joseph Boakai, President, Republic of Liberia, Lazarus Chakwera, President, Republic of Malawi, Joao Lourenço, President, Republic of Angola, Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi, President, Republic of Botswana, H.E. José Maria Neves, President, Republic of Cabo Verde, H.E. Kashim Shettima, Vice President, Republic of Nigeria, Nthomeng Majara, Deputy Prime Minister, Kingdom of Lesotho and Hon. David Sengeh, Chief Minister, Republic of Sierra Leone.

Meanwhile, sixteen Ministerial African Delegations are also expected to join the 16th edition of the U.S.-Africa Business Summit.

Speaking with reporters recently, Liberia’s Presidential Press Secretary Kula Fofana stated that President Boakai is excited about the invitation from African leaders as the summit will focus on “Trade and Commerce as well as other economic benefits for the people on the continent.

Madam Fofana disclosed that the delegation accompanying the President includes senior government officials who will participate in various panels and networking events.

The goal is to attract tangible investments and partnerships that will contribute significantly to Liberia’s economic development.

Liberia’s participation in the US Africa Business Summit will expand and strengthen its bilateral relations with the United States and will highlight the country as a leading destination for business in West Africa.

She narrated that the President’s participation underscores Liberia’s commitment to engaging with global partners to drive economic progress and improve the livelihoods of its people.

The Presidential Press Secretary stated that while the President is away, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs and Chief of Staff, Sylvester M. Grigsby will act in consultation with the Vice President and in telephone communication with the President.
