The Gender Affairs Section of the Liberia National Police (LNP) has held a productive engagement with Leymah Gbowee, founder of the Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa, to strengthen collaboration in advancing gender-related services within the police.

During the meeting, the Chief of the Gender Affairs Section, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Teta Wilson, expressed appreciation to the Foundation for its impactful contributions to peacebuilding and women’s empowerment across Liberia.  She further requested the Foundation’s support in furnishing the Gender Affairs Section to enhance its operational effectiveness.

The Inspector General of the LNP later joined the engagement and formally welcomed Madam Gbowee. In her remarks, Madam Gbowee commended the Inspector General for the high level of professionalism demonstrated by a team of 20 female officers, led by ACP Teta Wilson, during their recent visit to Sorloma, Lofa County.

Additionally, the Inspector General appealed to Madam Gbowee and her Foundation to extend support toward in-service training for officers of the Women and Children Protection Section, with a focus on the prevention of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

In response, Madam Gbowee expressed her willingness and commitment to collaborate with the LNP administration in support of these initiatives. The Liberia National Police remains committed to strengthening partnerships that enhance service delivery, promote gender equality, and ensure the protection of women and children across the country.
