In a dramatic bust, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested a 29-year-old woman, Benshedia Secret Weah, after discovering she was transporting 8 plates of cannabis worth over LRD$232,000.

The arrest took place on May 8, 2025, at the Zorgowee Checkpoint in Nimba County, where the suspect was traveling from Ghana to Monrovia.

Weah, a resident of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, was caught in possession of the illegal substance, which was concealed as she made her way through the checkpoint. The street value of the seized cannabis has been estimated at LRD$232,800.

The LDEA has confirmed that the suspect is currently under investigation and will face formal charges before being forwarded to court.
