The Management of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) announces its plans to implement staff retirement, downsizing, rightsizing, and reshuffling within its workforce. In a release issued on Saturday, June 28, 2025, the LAA stated that this decision, set to begin in early July, is backed by a resolution from its Board of Directors. This resolution authorizes the Management to streamline operations and ensure long-term, sustainable efficiency.

The LAA Management emphasized that this decision is not intended to target specific individuals but is driven by the need to enhance overall institutional effectiveness.  “This exercise involves a carefully planned process that conforms to the Decent Work Act of Liberia, the Standing Orders of the Civil Service Agency, and other relevant labor laws of Liberia,” the release said. The LAA noted that remains committed to ensuring that all its operations align with high standards and comply with the Standards and Recommended Practices set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

However, sources within the LAA have claimed that the latest announcement by Management is aimed at targeting opposition members employed by the institution. “We have been informed that the decision from the Managing Director did not come from the Board. It is solely the intent of the Unity Party government to remove opposition members working at the LAA,” an employee, speaking on condition of anonymity, told our newsroom.

Meanwhile, the LAA Management commends all employees and partners for their dedicated efforts in collectively improving the aviation sector in Liberia, in alignment with the Government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID).
