The National Civil Society Union of Liberia (NACSUL) has hailed a Liberian-owned company, West Coast Group of Companies, headed by Roland Paul as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), for breathing life into the National Transit Authority (NTA) by bringing into the country a huge quantity of spare parts for NTA buses, several of which have been down for a long period of time.
The West Coast Group of Companies was established in 2015 and has since grown to become a global group, with relationships with several countries in the Middle East and the United States of America. The company has several subsidiaries, including West Coast Oil and Gas Investment, West Coast Logistic and Investment, West Coast Engineering and Consultancy, West Coast Investment and West Coast Development Foundation.
NACSUL, in a press statement issued over the weekend, particularly lauded West Coast Group of Companies for the milestone intervention, especially at a time when the country is faced with public transportation challenge because of NTA’s inability to service its buses due to lack of spare parts.
According to the civil society group, with the importation of spare parts of the buses under the current Boakai-Koung administration, the immediate replacement of damaged parts of the buses will ease the transportation difficulties faced by the citizens in commuting to and from their respective destinations.
NACSUL also expressed excitement that a Liberian-owned company can earn and live up to the trust of the banking sector, as the procurement of the spare parts for the buses was pre-financed by West Coast Group of Companies through a loan scheme, which was secured from a local bank, indicating the credibility and trustworthiness of the company.
The group then appreciated the company for collaboratively working with DHL to safely import the spare parts into the country. According to the CSO group, when the items are used for their intended purpose, West Coast Group’s effort will be a driving factor for a major boost in government’s revenue generation at the NTA.
The NACSUL release disclosed that the CEO of the company, Paul, has assured the Liberian public that his company provides cost effective and reliable solutions to help customers to realize their goals, and that they have the potential to import goods of any kind into the country between four to eight days.
“It is also noteworthy to elaborate on the company’s goodwill and social welfare under its development foundation, which has been into helping less-fortunate citizens and catering to their needs. We are proud that a Liberian-owned company can venture into such worthy not-for-profit initiatives while at the same time providing quality for-profit service to its many customers,” the NACSUL release observed.
The civil society group called on other Liberian companies to emulate the exemplary role of West Coast Group of Companies, describing the company as one that can be trusted in delivering quality and affordable services.
