It appears that the political atmosphere is about to get heated especially for the ruling Unity Party as former President George Weah returns to the country vowing to be vocal.
Weah made the statement shortly upon his arrival in the country at the Roberts International Airport on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

The former President has been out of Liberia for over a month since he left on January 22, 2024 immediately following the inauguration of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.
The former president, who was welcomed by several jubilant supporters, said he was glad to be back home after a successful family vacation.

Weah expressed his readiness to speak about the ills in the Liberian society.
Weah returned home at the time when the debate over tenured positions has taken over the political space of the country.

The ex-Liberian leader also revealed plans to work in the interest of his party, Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) to put his political institution to where it supposed to be.

Even though Weah was not specific about what ills he would be speaking about, but it is likely that the CDC Political Leader would melt into several issues over the next few days, including the tenured position controversy, the closure of the University of Liberia due to lack of staffers salaries and benefits, amongst several other issues that border around transparency and accountability.

Meanwhile, scores of citizens have raised serious concerns over attempts to deny former President Weah access to the newly constructed and dedicated Clar M. Weah VIP Lounge at The Roberts International Airport, a facility he officially turned over to the new government at the eve of his departure from government.

No official reasons were given by the current government up till press time. But Presidential Press Secretary Madam Kula V. Fofana posted on her Facebook page saying, “We have a government to run. We will not be in the business of responding to baseless propaganda!!! We will not be distracted!”
