Bishop Nimley J. Donyen, a prominent resident of the Red Hill Community in Johnsonville Township, Montserrado County, has expressed his gratitude to Catholic Relief Services, the Latter Day Saints Church, and all other donors who contributed funds for the construction of a water tower in the community.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Donyen revealed that the tower can store 12,000 gallons of water, thanking those involved for their significant support of the Red Hill Community.
“I learned from the Managing Director of the Liberia Water Sewer Corporation that the total cost of this project is US$384,000,” he stated. However, the bishop expressed concern that this amount is excessive and not justifiable for the construction of the water tower and the two additional smaller towers in the community. He believes that the total cost for these constructions should not exceed $25,000.
Donyen mentioned that a pipeline had already been built in the community in 2017, which he funded by paying local youth to manually dig the waterline. “Aside from the two-inch pipes, which are about 20 feet long and connect the tower to the 4-inch pipe I purchased for the community, I do not understand why they claim the entire project cost US$384,000,” Bishop Donyen questioned.
He noted that the pipeline he constructed in the community between December 2016 and June 2017 spans 5,000 feet. This waterline is connected to the two-inch pipe that pumps water into the tower.
“I am appealing to CRS, the Latter Day Saints Church, and all other donors who contributed to the construction of the water tower in the Red Hill Community, Johnsonville Township, Montserrado County, Liberia, which was dedicated on Friday, May 2, 2025, to please review the financial reports that were sent to them,” the Bishop urged.
Why you didn’t tell the Liberian people what did in those communities only this time? Please bishop try to find different things to say
