The National Road Fund (NRF) Chief Administrative Officer John H. Tokpah has disclosed eight fuel importers that own the Government of Liberia(GoL) through the National Road Fund US$15. 287,101.24 million.

He made the statement on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, when the Ministry of Justice, National Road Fund, Liberia Petroleum Refining Company, and the Ministry of Public Works appeared before the House of Representatives to provide an update on the payment plan of arrears owed the National Road Fund.

NRF Chief Administrator said petroleum importers indebted include Conex, with US$4,526,678, Sirmex, US$ 3,762,803, LPRC, US$ 5,826,830, Aminata and Sons, US$473,906.24, Petro Trade, US$ 575,235, Kalando, US$ 94,886, Nexium, US$ 17,075, and NP, US$ 15,820.

He said Conex and Aminata have admitted to the amount given by the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) and asked for stipulation for their arrear to be paid. The National Road Fund Deputy Administrator said Srimex along with LPRC, Petro Trade, Kalando, NEXIUM Petroleum Limited, and others, is contesting the amount assessed by the Liberia Revenue Authority.

For his part, Justice Minister Oswald Tweh said the ministry had a meeting with the National Road Fund last year and the issues of the arrears were discussed. He said the road fund promised to write to importers that have arrears; but the road fund never got back to the ministry of Justice to inform them about decisions that were taken.

Meanwhile, a motion was filed that the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Public Works, and the National Road Fund, along with the importers and those contesting the amounts, appear next Tuesday, March 11, 2025, to provide further clarity on the matter.
