US$1.2M Hospital Unveiled

US$1.2M-Hospital-Unveiled

Liberian Gospel musician Charles Sleyon has unveiled a US$1.2M health facility in Morris Farm, Lower Margibi County. The structure is 75% complete and will be dedicated to the people of Liberia in three months.

The young Liberian artist told a crew of reporters at the weekend that the project named “Ma Juah Memorial Hospital” started two years ago after he realized the need to build a facility that will serve the people of Liberia.

The Servant Of The People, as he is affectionately called, has been working and living in America for over a decade, but reached the decision with his family to build a state-of-the-art health facility that will not only serve the people of Liberia, but one that will treat sick people with a “difference.”

“I’m a born Liberian, raised here, but fortunate to live and work in America, but still my heart for Liberia beats faster which is why instead of building a dream house, my family and I agreed to build a health facility. Currently this project value is over US$1.2M following massive development of the land which is entirely waterlogged,” he said.

Sleyon said the health facility will bring out a difference because it won’t just be in competition with others, but will identify some of the minor errors that occur every day in the health delivery system, and rectify it.

He said the facility will offer 24/7 emergency services, patient-centered care, pharmacy services and specialized surgical services with exclusive emphasis on women and children who’ve suffered a lot from poor delivery of health services.

“One of the key things I emphasized on during the tour of the facility was the Peace Ward [Children Ward], which is one of my very heartbeats, the reason why we will dedicate nearly 60% of what we’ll do here to women and children,” the Gospel musician said.

Minister Sleyon also told reporters that the Ma Juah Hospital, when dedicated in December, will offer 90% employment to Liberians with opportunity for doctors from the USA to practice.
