Ambassador Linda Thomas Greenfield, the United States’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations, paid a courtesy visit to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, on the sidelines of the US-Africa Business summit.

During the meeting, Ambassador Greenfield congratulated President Boakai on his efforts to combat corruption and impunity in the country.

She recognized the President’s recent efforts to audit critical government institutions, including the Ministry of State, and his signing of Executive Order #131, creating the Office of War and Economic Crimes Court.

Greenfield also expressed her concern for the challenges that Liberia faces, including the need to strengthen democratic institutions, improve the rule of law, and reduce corruption.

She assured President Boakai of the United States’ continued support in areas of mutual interest.

President Boakai thanked Ambassador Greenfield for her visit and reiterated his commitment to fighting corruption, strengthening institutions, enhancing the rule of law, and building on the country’s successes.

Boakai emphasized his Government’s priorities, as outlined in his Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation and Tourism (ARREST) Agenda, which aims at ensuring sustainable development.
