President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has received the Letter of Credence from the new Ambassador of the United States of America to Liberia, Mark Christopher Toner.

Receiving the letter Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the Executive Mansion in Monrovia, President Boakai recognized the historic and strong working relationship between Liberia and the United States, emphasizing the importance of their continued collaboration for development and stability. President Boakai assured Ambassador Toner of Liberia’s commitment to working with America to drive economic growth and improve regional security.

For his part, Ambassador Toner pledged to work and strengthen bilateral relationship and enhance trade relations between the two counties. He reiterated his country’s commitment to fostering cooperation with Liberia.

Ambassador Toner is succeeding Mr. Michael A. McCarthy, who served as the United States Ambassador to Liberia from January 2021 to August 2024.

It can be recalled, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sara Beysolow Nyanti on Monday, August 5, 2024, officially welcomed Toner to Liberia and registered her gratitude to the United States for its continued support and assistance to Liberia and its role in helping Liberia maintain stability, peace and development.
