UL Faculty Opposes Cancelation Of Entrance Results

UL-Faculty-Opposes-Cancelation-Of-Entrance-Results

The University of Liberia Faculty Association (ULFA) has termed it as unacceptable and an inconsistent administrative and managerial flaw on the part of the University to have canceled the results of the Law School entrance.

From January 8 to 10, 2024, the state-run University administered its Law School Entrance Examination to scores of citizens seeking enrollment at the nation’s highest learning institution.
However, on May 2, 2024, the UL Public Relations Office announced the cancelation of the Law School entrance examination results, citing applicants sitting the entrance exams without submitting all required documents as one of the key reasons for said action.

But reacting to this decision, the UL Faculty Association through a press release on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, described the situation as frustrating and uncivilized; adding that such a move has the propensity to undermine the credibility of the institution.

ULFA expressed concern and emphasized that the University of Liberia is expected to set professional standards in all of its dealings as it serves as a role model to higher education in the country.
The association further holds that honest efforts must be made by all levels of decision-makers and stakeholders to maintain quality standards at the state-run institution, urging the University to reconsider its decision and accept the administrative blunder.

“ULFA is taken aback that the University of Liberia could allow applicants of the Law School to sit the entrance exams without submitting all required documents, as stated in the University of Liberia May 2, 2024, Public Announcement,” the release said.

The association recounted that applicants paid for the entrance examination without receiving exam numbers and this was not resolved, yet, ULFA indicated that the exam was administered under questionable circumstances.
“More so, the deadline for the registration of the entrance is unclear and some of the reasons for the cancellation of the January 8-10, 2024 entrance as stated by the office of the Vice President of the University of Liberia Relations is unrealistic,” the statement noted.

Meanwhile, the UL Faculty Association called on the Board of Trustees of the institution to look into this issue with the utmost urgency to ensure that the nobility of the University is maintained.
