A young citizen of Ziah Town, Grand Gedeh County, Mohammed Beldeh, saw his life being cut short at the behest of a pickup belonging to Grand Gedeh County District #2 Representative Marie Johnson.
Residents of the district woke up to the sad news in disgust, given the fact that Representative Johnson has been at the center of controversial issues since her ascension to the district’s top seat, so much that she is being accused by the bereaved family that she is using their son for ritualistic purposes.
Recently, Rep. Johnson was accused by the youth of her district that she received bribes to support the removal of the embattled Speaker of the House of Representatives, Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa.
As a result, the youths of Grand Gedeh County vowed to gather signatures to impeach her for her alleged involvement in a bribery scheme to remove the Speaker of the 55th Legislature.
Rep. Johnson was among 43 members of the House of Representatives who reportedly signed a six-count resolution to remove Koffa. Recent revelations suggest that a sum of USD 25,000 was allegedly offered to each lawmaker involved, with each reportedly receiving an initial amount of USD 15,000.
The young people of Grand Gedeh expressed disappointment, accusing some lawmakers, including Rep. Johnson, of accepting bribes in exchange for supporting the speaker’s removal. Notably, Johnson, representing Electoral District #2, was also accused by the youth of holding an American passport.
A resident of the district, who spoke to this paper with tears rolling down his cheeks, said the pickup that caused Mohammed’s gruesome demise looked unworthy to carry the materials it was carrying for the renovation of the lawmaker’s house in Ziah Town.
“We are seriously concerned about the number of negative things happening in the district since Madam Johnson took over the District seat in the controversial aftermath of the 2023 election. It is really scaring us. It was bribery a few months ago. Today, our friend has lost his life and his family is in tears. We don’t know what would potentially happen next,” Emmanuel Garsen told this paper.
Meanwhile, residents are apprehensive that the fatal situation could be more than one considering the fact that the lawmaker is adamant about changing the unworthy pickup for a better one.
