Tebeh Football Academy has been crowned Champions of the 2024 Liberia Football Association U-15 Classic Academy League for the 3rd time in succession.
The club was announced champions over the weekend at the SKD after FC Zontche failed to under the match.
They were awarded 3 points and two goals bringing their points tally to 58 from 20 league matches and they are 7 points clear of 2nd place Ansu Football Academy who also defeated Scottish Academy 2-0 on Saturday.
Following the confirmation of their title on Saturday, the club head coach Christian Mend attributed the team successes to CEO Trokon Robert.
He said the team has hugely been supported over the years by Mr. Robert both paying the tuition of players and other activities just to ensure they are at an appreciable level.
“We have two objectives, school and football. At Tebeh, only players who are willing to go to school can be on our team because we are concerned about their education as well”.
“Mr. Robert plan is to see these players at the bigger stage in Europe and this why he devoted his time and money in preparing them, Coach Mend narrated”.
This season in 20 league matches so far, Tebeh has scored 91 goals as their dominance in every aspect of the league continues.
Their star player Roland Kilima has sofar scored 32 goals making him the highest goal scorer in the league.
Though Coach Mend attributed the team successes to Mr. Robert, CEO of the Club, but for the past three seasons, statistics have proven that he is the best grassroots coach in the country.
He built a free scoring squad that scored huge number of goals on a regular basis. For example, there are clubs that did not honor many of their matches against Tebeh due to fear of not conceding many goals.
But many football lovers who have been following the LFA grassroots league have been raising serious concerns as to why the LFA is not making use of Coach Christian Mend by adding him as one of the technical staffers of the U-15, U-17 or U-20 junior teams.Their believe is, he has something special to offer the junior teams something they have recommended for LFA to see reason and give him a try.
Coach Mend patient in dealing with younger players will pay a lot if given opportunity to serve his country they added.
On the other hand, many Liberians believed that the current breed of players has failed the country and as such, football stakeholders should look up to grassroots players for the future.
Their attribution is based on the consistent poor performance of the national team, the Lone Star.
