Taxi Driver Busted In L$857K Narcotic Smuggling

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Lofa County has arrested a taxi driver after receiving credible intelligence about him transporting illegal substances. According to a press release dated May 30, 2025, the driver identified as Musa Kamara, operating a green Nissan taxi with license plate #11413, had arrived at the Voinjama-Monrovia parking with drugs concealed in his vehicle.

Furthermore, a team of LDEA officers led by the Deputy Commander was dispatched to the scene. Upon locating the vehicle, the suspect was instructed to proceed to the LDEA Headquarters in Voinjama for a thorough search. While in route, suspect Kamara confessed to possessing a small quantity of drugs, claiming it was for personal use.

Upon arrival, Kamara voluntarily handed over eleven (11) wraps of compressed marijuana, insisting it was all he had. However, a full vehicle search revealed far more. 108 additional wraps of compressed marijuana were found under the driver’s seat in a black plastic bag and Five (5) plates of compressed marijuana were uncovered in the car’s trunk.

Suspect Musa Kamara, a 42-year-old Liberian national and resident of Sanoyea District, Bong County, was immediately arrested, and the vehicle was seized by the LDEA. Total Seizure, 119 wraps of compressed marijuana – Street value: LRD 11,900.00

44.5 grams of compressed marijuana (plates) – Street value: LRD 845,500.00. Total Estimated Street Value: LRD 857,400.00 Kamara is currently under investigation as the LDEA prepares to forward the case for formal charges and court proceedings.
